How to Hit your Goals
Have you thought about your life in five years’ time ? Are you clear about what your main objective at work is at the moment? Do you know what you want to have achieved by the end of today?
If you want to succeed, then you need to set goals. Without setting goals you lack focus and direction. Setting goals not only allows you to take control of your life’s direction; it also provides you a benchmark for determining whether you are actually succeeding. However in order to accomplish your goals, you need to know how to set them. You can’t simply say “I want it” and expect it to happen.
Clear and Specific
First of all you need to be clear about your goals. If you are not sure of what you want, start with what you don’t want. Then focus on the opposite. To give you an example “I don’t want to live in a flat anymore” your opposite would be to live in a house, perhaps with a backyard. Your goal would be to have a house and don’t be afraid to be specific in how you want it to be. Remember that you need to be clear and specific with your goals.
There are different points and topics about how to move towards your goal/s. So the first thing is to say it, and you need to do this in a daily. You need to talk about your goals. Use daily affirmations or declarations. Everyday we share daily declaration on our facebook page. Declarations are very powerful and important and can also be put in place for specific goals.
Then you need to feel it. By feel it we mean that you need to start thanking that you have already reached your goal. Be grateful right now, not when “I have this I will be grateful”. Start thanking the universe or whoever you want to thank. Thank you universe for this great car, thank you for all this money. BE thankful for whatever it is you want, right now. You need to have strong desires for your goals. You need to have plenty of very clear reasons why you need to achieve your goals.
Then it’s all about emotionalizing your goals. Define your goals in terms of what excites your senses. Meaning that you feel it, hear it, smell it, taste it, and do that on a daily basis. Then we have to see it as well. Every single day, visualize what you want . Visualization is a very powerful technique. So you regularly close your eyes and see yourself achieving your goal with absolute clarity. To make things easier you can create a vision board by adding some pictures, symbols even quotes that inspire you and hang it up. Look at it every day and picture yourself achieving your goals, make it vivid.
Act as if
“Act as if”, is based on the idea that if you believe you have what you want or behave like the person you want to become, it will become reality. You need to believe in your goals. Have big enough goals but at the same time small enough to make them believable and attainable. Know your limits, but never stop trying to exceed them to go beyond.
On a regular basis you should socialize with like minded people. You want to surround yourself with people that want the same things as you. Associate with like-minded people and avoid being surrounded by negativity. It’s important to associate with like-minded people, where you can discuss your goals and share ideas in which you are both working in achieving.
Working with a mentor can help you tremendously. A mentor can help and guide you by telling what you need to do. When in doubt you know you have someone to talk to and put back on your path.
Keep Going Forward
Your path to your goals won’t always be easy. There will be roadblocks, there will be dead ends. There are instances you will take one step forward and then three steps back. Whatever is thrown at you remember your end goal and push for it no matter the bumps along the way.
